Discription

The coin is round. On the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is grained.

 

Obverse

At the top – a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; in the center – a stylized silhouetted images of birds, lacy snowflakes and fir trees symbolizing Belarusian legends and elements of the Belarusian folk straw plaiting on the background of the eternal movement symbol— the spinning wheels, the texture of which is turning into the structure of the growth tree rings; beneath – the year of issue (alloy standard shown on the silver coin); and circular inscriptions: at the top – РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), and at the bottom – 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 ROUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 ROUBLE) on the copper–nickel coin.

 

Reverse

In the center – a stylized image of a bullfinch that has relief images of lacy snowflakes and branches on the chest, wings and back; around the bird there are the images of ash berries which are the favourite ones for the bullfinch, as well as the symbols of the Belarusian legends. On the right there is a circumferential inscription: ЛЕГЕНДА ПРА ГIЛЯ (LEGEND OF THE BULLFINCH).
