Discription

The coin is round. On the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is grained.

 

Obverse

At the top – a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; beneath – the inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center – the engraving from the title page of "The Book of Ruth" published by Francysk Skaryna; to the right and left – the ornament bearing inscriptions: the year of issue (to the left), the alloy standard (to the right) (on the silver coin); at the bottom in the centre — the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper-nickel coin.

Reverse

In the center — a relief image of the city of Padua from the ancient engraving, from the left and from the right – the fragments of the ancient buildings; at the bottom – the image of the armillary sphere, oak leaf garlands and signs of Skaryna’s engravings; under the images there is an inscription ПАДУЯ (PADUA); at the top – a circular inscription: ШЛЯХ СКАРЫНЫ (SKARYNA’S WAY).
