Discription

The coin is round. On the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is grained.

 

Obverse

At the top – a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; beneath – the inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center – the engraving of Francysk Skaryna’s self portrait from the book "Genesis" published by Skaryna; to the left and right – a decorative ornament bearing the year of issue (to the left) and the alloy standard (to the right) (on the silver coin); beneath in the center – the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper-nickel one.

Reverse

In the center – the image of the city of Prague from the ancient engraving ("World Chronical" of Schedel, 15th century), to the left and right – fragments of buildings from Skaryna’s engravings; beneath – the inscription ПРАГА (PRAGUE); at the top – the image of the Prague Astronomical Clock, beneath – circumferential inscription ШЛЯХ СКАРЫНЫ (SKARYNA’S WAY).
