Discription
The coin is round. On the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is grained.
Obverse
At the top – a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; beneath – the inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center – the quote from the afterwards to "The Book of Hours" from "The Small Travel Book" published by Francysk Skaryna (for the silver coin the quote is made with pad printing), below it – the ornamental element from the "The Small Travel Book", to the left and right there are fragments of illustrations from "The Small Travel Book" bearing the year of issue (to the left) and the alloy standard (to the right) (on the silver coin); beneath — the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper-nickel coin.
Reverse
In the center – the image of Virgin Mary with a baby from the "The Small Travel Book" at the background of the city view of Vilnia taken from the ancient atlas engraving (George Brown, 16th c.); from the left and from the right – the fragments of ornamental elements from the "The Small Travel Book"; at the bottom – an inscription Вiльня (Vilnia); at the top – a circular inscription ШЛЯХ СКАРЫНЫ (SKARYNA’S WAY).
