Discription

The coin has the shape of a circle, on the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is grained.

Obverse

At the top - a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus, circle inscription at the top: "РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom - "ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ"(TWENTY ROUBLES) on the silver coin and "АДЗІН РУБЕЛЬ" (ONE ROUBLE) on the copper–nickel one; on the left — the year of coinage, on the right – alloy standard (on the silver coin); in the centre – the image of the Upper Town panorama from the bird’s eye view and the State Emblem of Minsk.

Reverse

In the center – a stylized image of "The Battle on the Nemiga River" miniature from the "Radziwill Chronicle", which is the literature monument of the early 13th century, below - there are three lines of the historic names of the city: МЪНЬСКЪ, МЕНЕСК, МЕНСК (MINSK), at the bottom – circle inscription: "МІНСК. 950 ГАДОЎ" (MINSK. 950 YEARS).
