Discription
The coin is round. On the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is grained.
Obverse
At the top – a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; beneath – the inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center – the engraving from the title page of "The Book of Prophet Daniel" published by Francysk Skaryna; to the right and left – the ornament bearing inscriptions: the year of issue (to the left) and the alloy standard (to the right) (on the silver coin); at the bottom in the centre — the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper-nickel coin.
Reverse
In the center — against the background of the city view of Venice from the 15th с. engraving decorated with the plant ornament there is an image of the lion leaning against the open book; to the left and right of it– the signs of Skaryna’s engravings; under the composition there is an inscription ВЕНЕЦЫЯ (VENICE); at the top – a circular inscription: "ШЛЯХ СКАРЫНЫ" (SKARYNA’S WAY).
