Museum of money doesn't stop looking for new exhibits! This week 5 zloty banknote entered the collection. It was emitted in 1794 during the rebellion led by Tadeusz Kosciuszko against the Russian Empire. This was the first paper money on the territory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth! In fact, they weren't backed by any precious metals or coins and the only guarantee of their "strength" was the land which was controlled by the rebels. On all banknotes there was an inscription "Freedom. Integrity. Independence" that was the slogan of the rebellion.
