Discription
The coin has the shape of a circle, on the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.
Obverse
Within a circle geometric ornament - a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; below - the year of coinage, silver coin - fine silver content and alloy standard; circle inscription at the top: "РЭСПУБЛІКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom - "ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ"(TWENTY ROUBLES) on the silver coin and "АД3IН РУБЕЛЬ" (ONE ROUBLE) on the copper–nickel one.
Reverse
In the center – a relief image of the "Hero City Minsk" obelisk; in the right–hand side – the inscription in two lines: "3 ЛIПЕНЯ" (3rd JULY); circle inscriptions: "ДЗЕНЬ НЕЗАЛЕЖНАСЦI РЭСПУБЛIКI БЕЛАРУСЬ" (INDEPENDENCE DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS) and "ДЗЕНЬ РЭСПУБЛIКI" (DAY OF THE REPUBLIC).
