Discription
The coin has the shape of a circle, on the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.
Obverse
Within a circle geometric ornament - a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; below - the year of coinage, alloy standard and fine silver content; circle inscription at the top: "РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom - "ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ"(TWENTY ROUBLES) on the silver coin and "АДЗІН РУБЕЛЬ" (ONE ROUBLE) on copper–nickel one.
Reverse
In the center – a relief image of the layout of Polotsk based on a 16th century engravement, in right–hand side at the top – the city's state emblem of the 16th–18th centuries; circle inscriptions: "ПОЛАЦК" (POLATSK) and "ГАРАДЫ БЕЛАРУСI" (BELARUSIAN CITIES).
