Discription

The coin has the shape of a circle, on the front and back sides there is a rim along the circumference. The edge of the coin bears inscription: "УМАЦАВАННЕ І АБАРОНА ДЗЯРЖАВЫ" (FORTIFICATION AND DEFENCE OF THE STATE).

Obverse

In the center - a reconstruction of St. Sophia Cathedral built during the reign of Usyaslau of Polatsk; at the top – a relief image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus; circle inscription – "РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); at the bottom – the year of coinage, (silver coin – alloy standard) and the denomination: "ДВАЦЦАЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ"(TWENTY ROUBLES) – on the silver coin and "АДЗІН РУБЕЛЬ" (ONE ROUBLE) – on the copper–nickel one.

Reverse

A relief image of Usyaslau of Polatsk, to the left of it at the background of the solar disk – a conventionalized image of the wolf, symbolizing supernatural abilities of Usyaslau of Polatsk; in the left–hand side – circle inscription: "УСЯСЛАЎ ПОЛАЦКІ" (USYASLAU OF POLATSK) and the years of his reign: "1044 – 1101".
